Walking back from an appointment in Boston I passed this campus green and was really impressed with the beauty. The iPhone photo doesn’t do it justice. Pretty sure this is part of the Harvard Medical School campus. This photo was supposed to be number 263 but I somehow skipped publishing two photos. Ah well, I [...]

I took the boy out for a little drive to lower the decibel level in the house at home. We ended up at the beach around the corner, so I pulled out the camera and flash and took some pictures. It’s nice when I get a chance to actually take some photos for this crazy [...]

I think it’s important to try to take some photos every day, especially since I’m still in this Project 365. Some days it’s hard to remember, or just to make the time to make a nice shot. Luckily I have been shooting with the iPhone, so even mediocre photos like this one get a chance [...]

Rolling – 251/365

I had seen a blog post about the effects that a “rolling shutter” can produce when taking pictures of moving objects. With a rolling shutter, like the one in my iPhone, the image is scanned from top to bottom one line at a time. Things that move quickly can appear to be skewed because they [...]

Over the weekend we checked out one of our local wineries in our area. This is an HDR from the big camera using the new new Lightroom plug-in that I got. I’m using LR/Enfuse with this image, and I think the ghosting effect is evidenced here in a couple places. The Photomatix Pro plug-in had [...]

Monument of a minuteman in Lexington Massachusetts, a pivotal place in America’s fight for Independence. The Lexington Battle Green is visible immediately behind. This is an HDR from bracketed exposures with the DSLR using a new plug-in I got for Lightroom. I had been using a trial another great HDR tool, but you will notice [...]

A lone loon moves through the early morning fog on Sebec Lake. I took this around 6am one morning, before the coffee was even brewing. I had spotted the bird through the window and quickly got out my zoom lens and went out to the dock to shoot. I love that the fog is still [...]

This is the things boats do most often… wait for someone to come use them. This is our modest little boat, waiting on Sebec Lake for us to take it out for a spin. Sometimes we fish from it, but mostly we just ride around and enjoy the time on the water.

The kids have a new favorite place to stop on our trips to Maine. Classic Cookout in Freeport offers a selection of “Classic Cruisers” cardboard cars as part of thier kids’ meals. (The seating area holds a tray full of fries.) They’re some great cars too, even Grampa wanted to get one.

I ran out one busy day to bring lunch to my wife, and across the street from her favorite deli is this little gray barn. I had been playing with the HDR photos lately so I composed my shot and took three different exposures with my iPhone and off I went. Turns out those were [...]
