It was getting pretty late by the time I got past the Lincoln Memorial. I turned back on my way to the next sight and was instantly impressed with how it looked from this angle with all the lights on surrounding it. Pretty impressive indeed.

Left my hotel room around dusk and walked downtown to see the sights. First thing I came to was the White House, this being the back of the building and the side with the closest public access. There were groups of students, tourists, and protesters gathered outside the fence here. The sun had just gone [...]

Had a good night out walking around Washington DC last week. I’m still sorting through the photos and picking the good ones, and I’ve got a lot of them to go through. This is one photo of the Lincoln and WWII memorials that I kind of like. Lots more to come of these and other [...]

Full Moon

Got some decent pictures of the moon tonight. What a nice use for my new tripod!  When I was a real amateur photographer I didn’t realize how difficult it is to shoot the moon. Having the right equipment helps a lot, but knowing how to use the equipment is even more important. This might be [...]

Lighted skyline

I recently recropped this to the slim format here and I really like it. If you like this photo, please click Like or Share below to help promote [...]

Dorothy at the local ski area on a recent winter evening. Spedlite set to 1/128 power to give just enough fill.

One thing that this project has helped me practice is the art of seeing photos wherever I happen to be. After a long day out we stopped at the supermarket to pick up a few necessities. While my wife was inside shopping, I was outside shooting. I thought this photo was a pretty good find.

At the top of the hill in the center of town is this beautiful old farm. I stopped by one night and did some long exposure shots. This is an HDR blend of three exposures. I would have liked the porch lights to have been toned a bit but still pretty happy with the results.

Went into Cambridge again one evening to mingle at a computer user group there. Afterwards I walked along the Charles River and took some great night photos of the Boston skyline. The dock in the foreground is part of the Charles River Yacht Club. The tall building on the left is the John Hancock Tower [...]
