Homemade driveway paints and a child’s creativity are a great combination. The kids had a great time making their art, and I think they had just as much fun showing it off.

This porcelain doll came to live with us some months ago. I had expressed concern about such a fragile toy, and alas she has suffered a fractured leg. She sits now on a shelf of an old built-in bookcase I discovered behind some wallboard. The old doll and the old shelves seemed to work together [...]

Our little girl has no shortage of imagination and creativity. Princess dress and a Star Wars mask? No problem. I think she’s dancing in this photo, but she looks like a bounty hunter to reckoned with for sure!

Kids love to play dress up and to use their imagination. We found our girl running around the house dressed as a “butterfly clown.” In this picture you can see her “wings”, the shirt sleeves sticking out from her backpack. What you don’t see, however, is that she and her brother gave her a full [...]

We have a very nontraditional little girl. She loves girlie things these glitzy boots that a friend gave to us and she loves boy games like pirates and tree climbing too. We had a little outing at the ice cream place the other day and she had a great time climbing a couple trees. This [...]

Over the weekend we visited the new Ruff Ruffman Lab at our local Discovery Museum. One of the projects they had going on was tower stacking. Both our kids had a great time seeing how tall they could stack the cups and they both did a really good job. Our little girl was especially excited [...]

Well, she says she’s jumping over puddles, but that’s not accurate either. Whatever it was she jumping over, I was glad to have snapped this great candid action shot. It’s hard to get kids to do stuff like this when you’re planning something, so sometimes the best thing is to just have the camera ready [...]

More fun with the kids in the yard. I think they enjoyed seeing the "frozen in air" type pictures. One thing I’ve learned is that it’s hard to get a 3yr-old and a 6yr-old to jump in unison. Here’s the 3yr-old and her amazing floating boots.

Today I gave my photography time to a good friend and the talented creator of Bratsacks Babywear. She made this awesome backpack for our daughter, plus a number of other great items as well. (You can find her online at www.bratsacks.com) Many of the materials used are recovered fabrics or production scraps, and everything is [...]

Wonder Shot, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. My daughter came down from bed while I was playing with my new wireless flash triggers. Out of habit I aimed the camera and shot a quick photo of her. I wasn’t looking through the viewfinder, I hadn’t put any thought into the flash settings, and I really [...]
