Our little girl has no shortage of imagination and creativity. Princess dress and a Star Wars mask? No problem. I think she’s dancing in this photo, but she looks like a bounty hunter to reckoned with for sure!

Kids love to play dress up and to use their imagination. We found our girl around the house dressed as a “butterfly clown.” In this picture you can see her “wings”, the shirt sleeves sticking out from her backpack. What you don’t see, however, is that she and her brother gave her a full face-painting, with markers no less. It was cute, kind of, and washable at least, I really like how she’s almost flying as she runs circles through the house.

Now with ! At our camp we have a collection of old bottles and cans that have been around forever. Besides the nostalga factor it’s fun to see the way products were marketed. I love the proper housewife spraying the toxic chemicals. Ah, the insight of science.

There are days when there are very few choices for the “photo of the day”. Good or bad, those end up being the daily photo. Take this day for example. I took a couple really bad photos of the kid using the camera phone during dinner, and then neglected to take any other photos at all. So here’s a blurry picture of the with spaghetti sauce on his face. On to tomorrow…

This was a hip-shot taken in passing, but it’s also my favorite photo of the day. Sure, there were other pictures with pretty flowers and the older kids showing off, but this kid is just so handsome. Must be the random artistic framing. Judging from the catch-light I must have been holding my speedlite in the other hand.

The geese have returned to out yard again to raise thier young and graze for food. This is the smaller of two families we have this year. As usual they are a little camera-shy, or at least still weary of large bipeds. (They start to get over that after the are grown.) I did manage to get some shots of them picking at the lawn using the long lens, but I thought this shot of them swimming away was nice with the sense of movement it provides. The creek has been nice and full and the spring grasses are rich and plentiful.

I attended dinner at a friend’s house for , the start of Passover. I took this photo of the father saying a blessing on his two daughters during what I think is called Kaddesh. Of all the pictures I took that night, I found this one particularly touching.

Saturday was a better day for us. After swim class in the morning I took the two older kids out for a long bike ride. I set up the trailer bike for the and attached the trailer to that for the little girl. (You can’t really see her, but there is a happy 4yr-old in that trailer. We did about 8-10 miles on the new rail-trail that opened last year, which we can pick up in just under a mile from our house. It was warm and wonderful we had a great ride. We turned a few heads with my double-trailer rig as well.

I set up the camera on the tripod in the driveway. I used a small aperture to maximize the depth of field so that we weren’t out of focus. Then I opened it up until the shutter speed was fast enough to freeze us with just a small trace of motion blur. It was a little tricky to fire the camera from the bike and then navigate in a circle, double trailers and all, and up in front of the camera exactly ten second later. I took a wider shot and then cropped it down to better the composition. It was nice to be out on the bikes again on a warm spring day!
