I think it’s important to try to take some photos every day, especially since I’m still in this Project 365. Some days it’s hard to remember, or just to make the time to make a nice shot. Luckily I have been shooting with the iPhone, so even mediocre photos like this one get a chance [...]

A shot of Borestone Mountain from Peaks-Kenny State Park. Sebec lake is visible in the foreground.

A lone loon moves through the early morning fog on Sebec Lake. I took this around 6am one morning, before the coffee was even brewing. I had spotted the bird through the window and quickly got out my zoom lens and went out to the dock to shoot. I love that the fog is still [...]

This is the things boats do most often… wait for someone to come use them. This is our modest little boat, waiting on Sebec Lake for us to take it out for a spin. Sometimes we fish from it, but mostly we just ride around and enjoy the time on the water.

Now with DDT! At our camp we have a collection of old bottles and cans that have been around forever. Besides the nostalga factor it’s fun to see the way products were marketed. I love the proper housewife spraying the toxic chemicals. Ah, the insight of science.

Watching the fireworks from Greely’s Landing as the grand finale explodes over Sebec Lake in Dover-Foxcroft Maine. I took at least 200 photos of the fireworks, and now I need to figure out what to do with all of them. Maybe a create a slideshow and set it to music? Hmmm… Some days I have [...]

We have a large and beautiful painting of this old mill building hanging in our living room. While the river is low this time of year, the flood damage that the building has sustained is evidenced in this photo and in our painting as well.

I took a lot of photos this day but this one is my favorite. Not only does it have good color and a clear subject, but it also has a high story value. I like being able to look into a photo and pick out details that lend more insight into what is happening at [...]

Got up early to check the fishing with Max. The lake is so calm and peaceful at these hours.

Passed this old barn after driving by the blacksmith museum in Dover-Foxcroft. I liked how it looked on the top of the hill with the cloudy sky behind it and stopped to take some shots. I used bracketed exposures and merged an HDR so I could pull in both the hill and the sky clearly.
