On Christmas Eve I got to meet my friend’s new Labrador puppy. The then-unnamed canine youth was playful and handsome and I a got a couple of really good shots like this. I shot this with the 50mm lens and a single speedlite bounced off the ceiling. Looking forward to doing many more puppy pictures [...]

Our oldest dog likes to take it easy nowadays. When it’s hot she hangs out under the kids’ play structure where it’s a little bit cooler.

Our golden retriever has taken to sleeping in the big recliner in the living room. It’s really the kids’ chair, and they don’t seem to mind the company, so most often he gets away with it.

Shoot Me, Shoot You – 058/365, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. Today I took the kids a dog out hiking along the creek that runs from a local cranberry bog. I brought my camera bag of course, and this time my son asked if he could bring his camera too. Of course he can. I’m [...]

Camping In, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. The kids “discovered” their sleeping bags in my closet yesterday, so of course last night they just had to make camp in the living room. It looks like the stuffed animals were more tired than the kids as they actually went to sleep at a reasonable time. I [...]

Old Girl in Gray – 041/365, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. This is the older of our two dogs. She’s half golden retriever and, we’re pretty sure, half border collie. She really is black and white, so when I converted this image to gray-scale the only things that changed where her tags and something on [...]

Thumbs up – 020/365, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. My wife finished a pair of mittens today. Usually she works at her desk, but on this evening one of the kids was on her computer so she was sitting in the big comfy chair instead. There she sat with the dog on her lap, the [...]

Me’s and the dogs – 016/365, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. Took the kids and the dogs to the fairgrounds today. I had intended on trying to do a clone of the kids, as scary as that may seem. I set up the camera on the Gorillapod and tried a few times but I don’t [...]

Golden Eye – 013/365, originally uploaded by JMaz Photo. Reverse-lens macro of our golden retriever. I like this one because of the way the hairs the edge of his eyes are all in crisp focus and how they serve to lead the eyes across the photo. I got inspired looking at Lance’s reverse lens shots [...]
