Some of the ornaments on our tree this year. The handmade ornament was a gift from one of our friends for our first-born son.

The carnival only runs at night during the week, so everything was quiet and all the machines were shut down and packed away. Aside from a couple workers doing maintenance on one ride the place was deserted. I wandered about, camera in hand, looking for photos hidden amongst the quiet machines.

This morning I noticed that the flowers in front of our house have begun to bloom. (OK, they’re probably a few days old… I don’t get out much) Taken with natural light and my wonderful "nifty fifty" lens.

Layers of paint on a classroom easel, colored from years of childrens’ creativity overflowing from the artworks they were creating. Lit from a handheld speedlite with a diffuser held almost perpendicular to the surface so as to cast shadows within the texture of the paints. Bumped the colors slightly in post-processing.
