Close up our Christmas tree lights done with a bokeh-shape cut-out over the lens. A fun trick and not too hard to do by hand.

This is from the same night as the egg photo. I didn’t want to use chickens in the project again so soon, but these three girls entertain me.
Watching the fireworks from Greely’s Landing as the grand finale explodes over Sebec Lake in Dover-Foxcroft Maine. I took at least 200 photos of the fireworks, and now I need to figure out what to do with all of them. Maybe a create a slideshow and set it to music? Hmmm… Some days I have [...]
I had planned on using the flash for a photo shoot, not _in_ it. This is my aged and beloved 550EX with the off-camera flash cable attached. The batteries were dead this night, so I just took this under low ambient lights before calling it a night.
Visiting family in Weymouth Massachusetts, we took a walk down to the shoreline to skip stones and look for treasures. The kids collected shells, stones, and several pieces of sea glass. My daughter made this small pile of treasures on the stairs that lead back up the seawall. I had a hard time choosing between [...]
This is another shot from my friend’s marine aquarium. I took a lot of shots that try to bring in a lot of different things from the tank setup, and a few like this that just focus one subject. I think I did this because some of the fish, like this “Randall’s goby”, only came [...]
More fun with the kids in the yard. I think they enjoyed seeing the "frozen in air" type pictures. One thing I’ve learned is that it’s hard to get a 3yr-old and a 6yr-old to jump in unison. Here’s the 3yr-old and her amazing floating boots.
A reverse-lens macro of one of the crocus flowers.
While I was busy taking pictures my drink decided to make really cool patterns in itself. In my glass I added ice, vodka, coffee liquor, and then Irish cream. The cream and the coffee made for some really interesting interactions and I just had to share.
I wanted to share this photo too because it speaks a bit of a story to me. I don’t think our kids really fathom just how big this whole event really is. “The water is gone and the carpets a squishy, but why can’t you come play with me.” is kind of how I think [...]
