Eggs in Waiting

Took all the fresh out of the fridge and lined them up for a quick photo shoot. I love that they’re all different… different colors, different sizes, some even with different textures. I can’t taste any difference other than in how I decide to cook them. Lit with a single speedlight bounced off of a reflector.

Blue Morning

I woke up the other day to find this little visitor sitting out on our screened porch. The door to the porch has been open lately and she seemed to be having a little trouble finding her way back out through it. After snapping a few photos with the zoom lens I kindly coaxed her back towards the exit.

Miniature Displays

A scene on display at the Public Library.  I love how the shallow accentuates the third dimension here, especially with the “outdoor” scene.  These sets were inside cases with small mounted within.  I shot them with the long lens and a large aperture go give them that spacial effect.  The realism of the result is pretty cool.

Lighting test on Dorothy

This is my from first run at setting up the Novatron that I picked up recently. I used a main light to camera left bounced off an umbrella and a bare kicked down two stops and fired at the from camera right. It’s not perfect, but a pretty good first try. Need to pick up a third stand and some modifiers so I can get the hair light going too.

Chiackadee’s Winter Home

A black capped sits atop his home on a cold afternoon. Took this with the big Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 II IS lens I’m borrowing and I am so impressed with the sharpness and accuracy of this glass.

Country Store

The entry to the at Kimball Farm in . I took this from the other side of the street and I could barely see over the snowbank on the side of the road. Still, I love the way the light came out in this and it just feels warm inside.

Winter Opossum

I was driving up a snowy mountain road today hoping to catch a good photo when I happened upon this little by the side of the road. He was nice enough to climb up on this snowbank to pose for a few photos, probably hoping that I would just take my shots and move along. He didn’t wait around to wave goodbye to us on our way back down the hill.

Winter in Boston Common

Nice day for a walk in the . This is Common during the snowstorm today. Amazing that under all this is a three-level underground parking garage. I took this on my way back to my car following a business meeting downtown.
