So I walk into another bar off Sixth St in Austin just as the band is taking a break. However, the drummer and the percussionist hang out and start to jam. They locked up pretty tight and had some great stuff going, each one taking turns adding their own creativity to the mix. I had started just taking some pictures from the floor, but after noticing a balcony with a spiral staircase to the stage I hopped a rope and made my way over to the back of the stage. It was challenging with the low light, and my flash was only creating nasty shadows even when I tried to bounce it. (Oh how I look forward to having bigger gear.) Anyway, they were both appreciative of me snapping photos and even thanked me after their little jam session. Turns out these two had not played together in years and this was a bit of a reunion for them. It was very emotional, and I hope they find this post so that I can share the good shots I got from this impromptu session.
