My wife is doing film-canister rockets with her class tomorrow. I built them a base from which to launch from and she assembled the sample rocket. Not a lot of time to experiment today, but I did play a little bit with the lighting. In this setup I’ve got a light with a red bounce card to camera left, a strobe with a blue gel and a diffuser to camera right, and bare back light against the white foam board behind the subject. (OK, my bounce card is the back of a Candyland board and my gel is a blue translucent sippy cup.) I guess I got the desired affect here with the rocket and launch pad lit with colors from either side and the backdrop filled in with a white gradient.
