Back to workshop to today’s shoot. (I think I will find a lot of inspiration in here over the course of this project.) The deep redwood finish on this block plane’s handle is really handsome. I took it off the shelf and did some shots of it solo, but ultimately I thought it was more interesting on the shelf with the other planes.
The lighting in the shop is kind of boring (in a photography kind of way) so I made a snoot for my speedlite to give it that morning breaking light kind of look. (Though I did remove a bit of glare from the redwood handle.) After struggling to hold the camera in one hand and the speedlite in the other while stretching the three foot cord between the two, I’m really considering some cheap radio triggers from eBay.
Shot with the 50mm lens, speedlite kicked down to 1/128 with a snoot to camera right.
